Starbucks CEO to Commute by Private Jet
Starbucks' new CEO, Brian Niccol, will be required to work from the Seattle office at least three times a week, despite living 1,600 kilometers away in Newport Beach, California. Instead of relocating, he will use the company's private jet for his commutes, with travel expenses covered up to $250,000 annually. Additionally, Starbucks will provide him with a remote office and an assistant in Newport Beach.
This arrangement highlights the stark contrast in work flexibility between high-level executives and regular employees. While Niccol enjoys significant perks, many employees face stricter return-to-office policies without similar accommodations.
Starbucks is currently navigating challenges, including declining stock values and leadership changes. Niccol's previous experience managing crises at Taco Bell and Chipotle positions him as a strategic choice to lead the company through its difficulties.
