The First 5G Satellite Constellation Revolutionizes IoT
Spanish startup Sateliot has launched its first constellation of 5G-IoT satellites, aiming to provide coverage for Internet of Things (IoT) devices in areas lacking terrestrial network access. The launch, conducted by SpaceX, marks a significant step towards establishing Sateliot as the first satellite telecommunications operator for IoT under the 5G protocol.
Founded in 2018, Sateliot plans to offer global coverage for IoT devices, targeting a potential market worth one billion euros. The company envisions applications in agriculture, logistics, renewable energy, and more, with the initial four nanosatellites expected to operate for over five years at an altitude of 600 km.
Looking ahead, Sateliot intends to deploy an additional 60 satellites in 2025 and expand to a total of 250 by 2026, having already secured contracts worth 200 million euros with over 400 clients, including major companies like Telefónica and Amazon Web Services.
