Charges Filed in Connection with Matthew Perry's Death
Prosecutors have charged five individuals, including two doctors and an alleged drug dealer, in connection with the death of actor Matthew Perry. They are accused of exploiting Perry's vulnerability as a recovering addict by supplying him with ketamine, which led to his fatal drowning in October 2023. Perry, known for his role in 'Friends,' had a long history of substance abuse, which he detailed in his memoir.
The investigation revealed that Dr. Salvador Plasencia and Dr. Mark Chavez facilitated the distribution of ketamine to Perry, while his assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, administered the drug without medical training. In the weeks leading up to his death, Perry reportedly received around 20 vials of ketamine, costing approximately $55,000.
Following Perry's death, attempts were made by some involved to erase evidence of their drug dealings. The case highlights the dangers of unregulated drug distribution and the exploitation of vulnerable individuals struggling with addiction.
