Elysian's 100% Electric Aircraft Proposal
Elysian, a Dutch startup, aims to revolutionize aviation with its 100% electric aircraft, the E9X, designed to significantly reduce CO2 emissions. The aircraft is projected to have a range of 800 kilometers, with a more conservative estimate of 480 kilometers, making it suitable for regional flights. Its innovative design features eight propeller motors and a unique fuselage that accommodates battery placement in the wings, enhancing efficiency.
The E9X is designed to integrate seamlessly with existing airport infrastructure and aims for a rapid battery charging time of around 30 to 45 minutes. Elysian's ambition is to attract regional airlines and utilize quieter, more environmentally friendly technology, potentially reviving underused airports.
Despite skepticism from established companies like Rolls-Royce, Elysian remains confident in its vision for electric aviation, emphasizing the need for electrification in the industry to meet future demand and emission targets.
