Activision Addresses Download Issues for 'Call of Duty'
As video games grow in size, 'Call of Duty' has become particularly burdensome, requiring around 250 GB of storage. Activision Blizzard plans to tackle this issue by separating the download of 'Warzone' from the main game, allowing players to choose which components to install. This change aims to reduce unnecessary storage use for those who do not wish to play 'Warzone'.
Additionally, Activision will enhance texture streaming starting with the Season 5 Reloaded update. This will allow less frequently used textures to be downloaded on demand, minimizing permanent storage requirements. Players can opt for high-fidelity streaming or a lower-quality option to save bandwidth.
A significant update will precede these changes, reorganizing file systems to optimize storage. While the exact size for 'Call of Duty: Black Ops 6' is not yet confirmed, it is expected to be lighter than previous installations, with more details to be shared in October.
