Ballistic Analysis of Eulalio Gomes' Death
A ballistic analysis by the Public Ministry indicates that Eulalio Gomes' Glock pistol discharged twice during the confrontation that led to his death on August 19. The analysis found two spent casings at the scene, confirming that the shots were fired from his weapon, although they did not exit his room.
The report also details that five spent casings from a Colt rifle were recovered, belonging to Sub-Commissioner Carlos Darío García Valenzuela, who allegedly shot Gomes. Chemical tests revealed gunshot residue on García's hands, while another officer claimed he did not fire his weapon during the incident.
An autopsy confirmed Gomes died from a high-velocity gunshot wound, with no drugs in his system. The report ruled out torture or mistreatment, and gunshot residue was found on Gomes' hands and arms, although discrepancies in testing methods were noted.
